The Dayōn-ojisan Trilogy (ダヨーンのおじさんの三部作 Dayon no ojisan no sanbusaku) was a short series of one-shots serialized in Shonen Book, following after Akatsuka-kun Can Do Anything ended its run. It ran from January to March 1966.
Overview[]
Each short centers around Dayōn, who had recently been introduced in Osomatsu-kun towards the end of the previous year. He takes on a different sort of role in each story, and winds up involved in some type of plot with other characters.
Characters[]
Dayōn[]
Our protagonist, a strange middle-aged man with a large mouth.
Serialization[]
The titles of the three shorts were as follows:
- Dayōn no Ojisan/"Uncle Dayōn" (ダ・ヨーンのおじさん, January 1966): A story introducing us to Dayōn and his daily life.
- Horahora no Ojisan/"Uncle Horahora" (ホラホラのおじさん, February 1966): Dayōn is cast in the role of a famous manga-ka.
- Ojisan no Obasan/"Uncle Aunt" (おじさんのおばさん, March 1966): Dayōn disguises himself as a woman in an attempt to play caretaker to a disobedient little girl.
Reprints[]
- Akebono: The three stories are reprinted in the "Fujio Akatsuka Complete Works" volume of "We are 8 Pro" as extra content.
- Shogakukan: These stories can be found in the DVD-ROM edition of "We are 8 Pro", included in the 2002 "Fujio Akatsuka Complete Works" DVD-ROM set
- eBookJapan: The first and third short are reprinted in "The 1960s vol.3". The second is not included for unknown reasons, potentially copyright concerns due to the Big X cameo (as the character was created by Tezuka). It remains to be seen if a fourth volume of these anthologies will be put out.
