Greatest in Japan, Putaro's Family (大日本プータロー一家) is a gag work by Fujio Akatsuka and Fujio Pro, serialized in Comic BomBom through 1990-1991.
Overview[]
A family of money-loving beggars, the "Greatest in Japan" family, go about in search of the perfect home to bribe someone out for their own residence. To realize their goals, they go about them separately and try and earn more money for that dream home from the people they encounter.
The series ran alongside Heisei Genius Bakabon and the 1990 remake of Extraordinary Ataro, up until its final outing in BomBom. It was succeeded by MR. Masashi, where Putaro himself made a cameo in the series.
Characters[]
Aside from this family and others, there is some presence of Akatsuka's Star System in the feature.
Putaro[]
A 4th grade boy who goes wandering about from house to house, seeing what would be the perfect type. As he's an immature and mischievous child as much as he can try to help, he can still wind up with unexpected successes for his unconventional ideas.
Pukichi[]
The father of the family, a wandering salaryman who takes great interest in paying his way into jobs to be his workplace and home. He is the one to often gather the family and see what money they have to spend for a house.
Puko[]
A housewife who can make good money by getting in on entertainment gossip and chatting up others about such.
Pujon[]
The family dog, just as crafty and scheming as the rest of them. His greatest goal is to get a doghouse with air conditioning, and he'll take whatever dog jobs he can for it.
