Fujio Akatsuka Wiki

The Chicken Family (にわとり一家) is a short gag feature by Fujio Akatsuka and Fujio Pro, serialized in Weekly Shonen King.

It is yet another installment of his various "Family"-themed manga.

Overview[]

Stories revolving around the lives of a family of anthropomorphic chicken people, and their attempts to outsmart their cat-man landlord Nekoyama.

Characters[]

In addition to this cast, The Police Officer with the Connected Eyes makes an appearance as the usual police figure. The early quadraped version of Nyarome also appears in chapter 2.

Kokekichi[]

The father figure of the family, who's got the beak of a chicken but otherwise the body of an average salaryman.

Piyoko[]

The mother, who along with her son Chabosuke bears a more human nose above her beak and appears a little more humanoid than the other adult family members. She and Chabosuke are shown to beat up the owner of a yakitori stand when on their rampage in the first chapter, as it sells chicken meat.

Chabosuke[]

The young son. He is attacked by Nekoyama in chapter 3, leading to that story's plot and clash between the characters.

Shamojii[]

The grandfather, bearing a bald head and wrinkles. He goes about dressed in a traditional kimono and geta, compared to the rest of the family, and is often seen alongside Kokekichi in plans.

Nekoyama the Landlord[]

A cat-man who owns the Chicken Family's house. He is initially drawn more humanoid, bearing human ears and a bald head but otherwise having the lower face of a cat. This is altered with ensuing chapters to where he has additional cat ears and a striped fur pattern, along with having more animalistic behavior.

Nekoyama will intrude in on the family at inopportune times or even ambush a family member, leading to conflicts.
